Thank you to our Parent Volunteers for putting on a fabulous Christmas Party!
We are reading about Ancient Greek Civilizations and in the city-state of Athens, the greeks had a democracy society. For our Pausing Point, we talked about elections and the importance of voting. We registered to vote and wrote speeches trying to persuade the class to vote them as Class President.
Our SUU Teacher Helpers did an amazing job integrating dance and gravity. Students observed patterns of falling objects and turned it into a dance.
Our class is lucky enough to have a SUU students in our class. Mrs. Hallows prepared and taught a visual arts integrated lesson to introduce our Gravity Unit.
We had a great time at our Cedar Breaks field trip! It was a great extension to our Rock Unit. We went on a hike observing the three types of rocks, discussed trees and animals, learned about weathering from a park ranger and visited with Smokey the Bear.
For our science unit, we made a model of all three types of rocks. Our favorite was the metamorphic cookies! We discussed the process of how metamorphic rocks are made: Rocks that have been changed over time due to heat and pressure.
We loved reading our three fairy tales: Beauty and the Beast, The Emperor's New Clothes, and The Fisherman and His Wife. Next up is Tall Tales starting with Paul Bunyan!
We have had a great couple days of school so far! Today we learned that we are all scientists. Scientists are curious about the world around them. They investigate, analyze, interpret data and draw conclusions. I can't wait for our class to jump into our fun science curriculum this year!
